The Role The HSE Officer will be a key member of the onsite project team, providing practical Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) support for CE Group’s scope of work. The role ensures effective implementation of CE Group’s HSEQ Management System, meeting legal and client requirements to maintain a safe work environment. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone passionate about HSE excellence. This position is based at the Draper Water Treatment Plant in Gordonvale, Queensland (approximately 25km south of Cairns) and can be offered on a residential basis from Cairns. Key Responsibilities Provide onsite HSE support from project start to completion Implement and maintain project-specific HSEQ Management Plans and risk assessments Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Promote a positive safety culture focused on people and systems Conduct inspections, observations and safety interactions Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and pre-starts Assist with HSE improvement actions and incident investigations Provide HSE support functions including first aid, confined space standby and hot work sentry when required About You You will be highly visible onsite, spending over 60% of your time in the field, and confident in having influential safety conversations. You will have experience in HSE within electrical construction and be adaptable in changing environments. Essential Requirements Relevant WHS qualification and incident investigation training Construction General Induction Current First Aid, Low Voltage Rescue Confined Space Entry & Working at Heights Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and legislation Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively Competency with Microsoft Office and new technology Additional certifications such as Mental Health First Aid, Fire Warden, Spotter/Safety Observer or Hot Work are desirable.
