On behalf of AJ Aluminium & Windows, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Project & Product Design Engineer to join their team and contribute for their ongoing success. As a Project & Product Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the engineering design, documentation, and technical coordination of custom aluminium window, door and façade systems. This position supports end-to-end project delivery by developing engineered solutions that meet client specifications, fabrication requirements, and Australian Standards. Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Interpret architectural drawings and project specifications to develop engineered designs for custom aluminium window, door, and façade systems. Prepare CAD models, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation that are accurate, practical, and compliant with relevant standards. Undertake engineering assessments to verify product performance, including structural adequacy and compliance with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code. Prepare material take-offs, product specifications, and engineering cost estimates to support quoting, procurement, and project planning. Plan and track design milestones and engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with project schedules and installation programs. Identify potential design, fabrication, or installation issues early and propose effective engineering solutions to mitigate risks. Collaborate with the Production Engineer to ensure design intent aligns with fabrication capabilities and to resolve technical constraints, without taking responsibility for production workflow optimisation or factory operations. Provide technical support and clear communication to senior estimator, project managers, installers, clients, and suppliers throughout the design and delivery phases. Qualifications and Skills: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Product Design, or a related field). At least 1 year of proven work experience. Strong ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and site requirements. Proficiency in CAD software for product fabrication and design. Ability to prepare technical documentation, fabrication drawings and material take-offs. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple design tasks and milestones within project timeline. Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify design and installation risks and develop practical engineering solutions. Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $76,500 - $90,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
