Howley Pastoral is looking for a motivated individual to join their family-owned and operated cropping and sheep operation as an Experienced Station Hand in the Lower Western region of New South Wales. This 7,000-hectare property offers a diverse work environment, featuring 4,000 hectares of crops and a highly fertile flock of 700 Ultrawhite self-replacing ewes. The Employer: Howley Pastoral is a proud fourth-generation family farm that values heritage alongside modern agricultural practices. You will work closely with the owner, becoming an integral part of a small, dedicated team that utilises casual staff during peak periods. The role is comprehensive and requires a high level of competency in machinery operation, specifically for seeding, spraying, rolling, and harvesting dry land crops, including high yields of wheat, barley, lentils, hay, and vetch. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining a sophisticated plant of equipment, including a Vector 300 self-propelled sprayer, a 36m Weedit, a Cat Challenger, and an 18m DBS seeder. Beyond the tractor seat, the role involves essential machinery and grain handling equipment maintenance to ensure operational efficiency; therefore, mechanical and welding skills would be considered advantageous. Livestock management is also a key component, where you will assist with sheep work, feeding, and the general care of the Ultrawhite ewe flock. Additional farm duties, such as fencing and road maintenance, ensure that no two days are the same on this expansive 2,500-hectare riverfront property.
