Essential Community Program - Support to people in need $44.58 per hour 25% Casual Loading 15% Superannuation salary packaging benefits The position Our programs provide support to people in need from a variety of sectors – justice, homelessness, mental health and education. Samaritan House is the ACT’s only crisis accommodation service for single men. Operating 24/7 and offering 13 beds, the service provides immediate safety, support and connection to longer-term housing pathways for men aged 18–65 experiencing homelessness. We are seeking a dedicated Duty Manager to join our team at Samaritan House. Reporting to the Coordinator Samaritan House, you will be part of a rotating roster and often work as the sole employee on shift, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the House. This is a key frontline role responsible for supporting residents, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and ensuring smooth operational functioning. This role is central to ensuring our companions receive high-quality support that promotes dignity, independence, and positive life outcomes. About you To be successful in this role, you will see this as more than just a job! You will bring your proven experience working with and the demonstrated understanding of crisis and the longer term needs of people who are currently homeless within a case management framework. You will also have the ability to work with people who may have mental illnesses and addictions and have awareness of the related network services which assist people in crisis. You will be able to work independently, apply judgement (when working without supervision) including the demonstrated ability to provide a hospitality service and undertake a range of administrative duties. You will have well-developed communications skills along with a proactive, collaborative mindset and demonstrated resilience. Additionally, you will have the capacity to deal with challenging environments and be able to adapt to change. Certificate IV in Community Development/Sector or similar (highly desirable) and/or significant relevant experience in the field and/or extensive and deep expertise in a similar or related role. The program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Availability for weekday shifts is essential for this role, along with flexibility for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
