Position: Japanese Cuisine Chef Location: Townsville, QLD Employment Type: Full-time Good Will Food Pty Ltd, trading as Sushi Kiyo is a well-established restaurant in Townsville specializing in authentic Japanese cuisine, committed to delivering a high-quality dining experience. We are seeking a skilled Japanese Chef with proven expertise in Japanese cooking techniques to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, a strong understanding of traditional Japanese techniques, and a minimum of a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. Experience in sushi and sashimi preparation will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare, cook, and present a variety of Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, tempura, donburi, and other specialty items. - Ensure consistency and quality of food presentation in line with restaurant standards. -Estimate food requirements and order supplies. - Maintain kitchen hygiene and comply with food safety regulations. - Supervise and train junior kitchen staff in Japanese cooking techniques. - Collaborate with management to introduce seasonal and innovative menu items. - Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profitability. - Contribute to menu development and creation of unique, inspiring dishes Skills & Experience Required: - Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery/ Kitchen Management - Minimum 2 years’ full-time experience as a Japanese Chef (post-qualification). - Strong knowledge of authentic Japanese ingredients, cooking techniques, and presentation styles. - Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. - Good leadership, communication, and team management skills. - Relevant trade qualifications (Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) - Working rights in Australia Salary: Annual salary- $75,000 $78,000 plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience).
