Indigeco is assisting a Federal Government agency in sourcing an experienced Records and Information Management / FOI Officer to support records governance and Freedom of Information functions within its Operations Branch. The labour-hire contract is initially till July 2026 with a potential to extend for an additional 6 months. The pay rate will be $55 - $60 per hour super. ABOUT THE ROLE This role supports the effective day-to-day operation of the agency’s records management system and contributes to the coordination and administration of FOI requests. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative, policy, and procedural requirements, while supporting continuous improvement across records and FOI practices. The position suits a detail-oriented professional with experience in APS records management environments and exposure to FOI processes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Undertake day-to-day operations of the records management system in line with defined procedures. Provide advice and guidance to staff on records management requirements and best practices. Contribute to the review and maintenance of records management processes, procedures and manuals. Support audits, compliance reviews and reporting activities. Implement a new, defined records structure aligned with APS records classification schemes. Support the potential migration of records from Content Manager to SharePoint in accordance with department-wide instructions. Assist with the coordination, case management and processing of FOI requests. Prepare documentation for FOI Decision Makers, ensuring statutory timeframes and legal obligations are met. Draft formal decision letters, briefings, correspondence and statistical reports. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Legal Services Branch, to support FOI coordination. Assist with internal reviews and external reviews or complaint processes. Support governance, assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives for FOI practices. Undertake other duties within the skill level as required by the Operations Branch. KEY REQUIREMENTS Demonstrated experience in records and information management within the APS or a highly regulated environment. Sound understanding of Commonwealth records management obligations and APS classification schemes. Experience supporting or administering FOI processes, including legislative timeframes and documentation requirements. Strong written communication skills, with experience drafting formal correspondence and reports. High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Experience with Content Manager and/or SharePoint is highly regarded.
