The Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria (the Veterinary Board) is a statutory body created through the passing of the Veterinary Practice Act 1997 (the Act). The Veterinary Board protects the public and the health and welfare of animals by regulating veterinary practitioners through the effective administration of the Act. The nine members of the Veterinary Board meet every month to oversee the operations, consider complaints against registered veterinary practitioners, and consider applications for registration in Victoria. The Board consists of the following categories: One President (registered veterinarian) One Deputy President (registered veterinarian) Four registered veterinary practitioners (including Crown and educational institution members) One legal practitioner Two non-veterinarians (community members) with appropriate experience.
