THE OPPORTUNITY Federal Self Insurance is an arm of EML that caters to employer’s who are self-insured for their workers compensation requirements or are premium paying agencies under the Comcare scheme that have partnered with EML to administer their claims management function. The purpose of this role is to proactively lead and contribute to the achievement of business unit and organisational objectives. This role supervises day-to-day work activity of direct reports and provides leadership and management support across the business unit. This position operates in a statutory environment defined by jurisdictional legislation. Success is dependent on achieving expected contractual and legislative measures, improved return to work and claims management outcomes, ultimately resulting in improved portfolio and actuarial assessments. This will be a full time, permanent position based in our Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week once fully trained. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager to develop and implement a pro-active, specialised approach to the management of workers compensation claims in a fast-paced environment. Develop, implement, forecast and drive the strategic direction, performance and sustainability within the team. Oversee and deliver a scalable, efficient, collaborative and effective customer-centric operating model. Pro-actively supervise, develop and support team members ensuring team and organisational objectives are met Drive continuous improvement and innovation. Maintain awareness of industry developments and trends and respond effectively to changes. Provide technical guidance in relation to the strategic management of workers compensation insurance claims to both internal and external stakeholders. Supervise the day-to-day work activity, training and development of a team of case managers. Triage claims and monitor workload, assigning within the team. ABOUT YOU Experience in a Team Leader or equivalent within the Workers Compensation scheme, Comcare or the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act. Demonstrated expertise in the management of workers compensation claims Strong understanding of the contractual requirements and performance measures Leadership skills, including team building, coaching, performance management and change management Strong oral and written communication skills Experience managing and developing teams within a personal injury environment.
