Your Next Employer Our client has recently developed a large-scale macadamia orchard near Lawrence, NSW, approximately 30 minutes from Grafton. Plantings commenced in 2019 and now span around 700 hectares of established trees. The business is entering a period of strong production growth, with harvest volumes forecast to lift over the next three to five years. As scale increases, machinery reliability and preventative maintenance are becoming increasingly important. The operation runs a modern, near-new fleet across tractors, spray rigs, mulchers, harvest equipment, ATVs/buggies, pumps and irrigation motors. The workshop is organised, well-resourced and supported by management that understands the value of doing things properly, including bringing in external support when workload or specialist repairs require it. You’ll work within a settled team of ~23–24 across orchard, irrigation and machinery operations. The culture is practical and respectful, with clear lines of communication. As you get across the fleet, you’ll also provide hands-on guidance to operators to lift machinery care and reduce recurring issues. The Role Reporting to the Farm Operations Manager, you’ll run the workshop day to day, maintaining, repairing and improving the reliability of all machinery, implements, vehicles, buggies and pumps. Deliver operator training on tractor use, implement setup and safe operation once familiar with the fleet. Take part in weekly planning to forecast workload, manage preventative maintenance, and coordinate contractors or external support when genuinely required. Maintain clear service records and support WHS systems, SWPs and ongoing safety improvements. What You Bring Trade-qualified diesel mechanic or agricultural mechanical technician. Strong diagnostic capability across tractors, hydraulics, implements, ATVs, pumps and general farm equipment. Practical welding and light fabrication skills.
