DevOps Technical Lead (Azure) Sydney | Financial Services | Permanent About the role We're looking for a DevOps Technical Lead to act as the technical SME and 2IC to the hiring manager within our DevOps function. This role is hands-on and deeply technical, while also providing technical direction, standards, and mentorship across the team. You'll play a key role in shaping our Azure platform, infrastructure-as-code approach, and CI/CD practices, while remaining close to delivery. What you'll be doing Acting as the technical authority for Azure DevOps and cloud engineering within the team Designing and maintaining Azure infrastructure using Bicep Building automation and tooling using PowerShell as a first-class, object-oriented language (not CLI scripting) Leading CI/CD design and implementation using Azure DevOps Setting engineering standards, patterns, and best practices Reviewing designs and code, and providing technical guidance to engineers Working closely with the hiring manager on technical strategy, roadmap, and decision-making Mentoring senior and mid-level engineers and uplifting overall capability What we're looking for Strong experience in Azure DevOps / DevOps Engineering roles Deep hands-on expertise with: Azure (core services, networking, security, identity) Bicep for infrastructure as code PowerShell (advanced scripting, modules, object-oriented approach) Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and release automation Proven experience acting as a technical lead or SME Ability to balance hands-on delivery with technical leadership Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments (financial services a plus) Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Why join us High-impact technical leadership role without people-management overhead Influence platform direction and engineering standards Work in a stable, well-funded financial services environment Sydney-based role with flexible working arrangements
