Position Summary Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Senior Manager Media is responsible for the delivery of strategic proactive media campaigns and managing reputational risks at a company and industry level. The Communications function works across all business areas of Squadron Energy to grow and protect its corporate reputation and to ensure the publication of accurate and high-quality information. This is a 12-month maximum term position covering parental leave. This role may involve travel to other office locations and remote regional sites to engage and liaise with broader Squadron Energy (SQE) teams and relevant stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead proactive media opportunities, including media opportunities that advance the industry and Squadron's broader reputation. Proactively maintain and develop strong relationships with media outlets. Lead the development and delivery of media strategies and campaigns that build awareness of Squadron Energy’s purpose, projects and leadership in the energy transition, and protect and enhance its reputation in the community and among stakeholders. Coordinate media activities that support and amplify industry-wide initiatives and the work of industry associations to strengthen public understanding and confidence in renewable energy. Ensure internal stakeholders are kept aware of media issues and opportunities as they arise. Develop responses to media issues, enquiries and opportunities in a highly effective and timely manner. Produce regular summaries and evaluations of media activities and contribute to executive and board reporting, as . Actively manage sensitive company and contentious issues, to ensure responses, protect reputation and steer the narrative. Provide advice on media messaging and management approaches and escalate issues when . Work closely with the Head of Communications to develop annual business plans, manage complex issues, and create integrated communications campaigns. Deliver a range of content across social media, online, internal communications, and presentations. Skills and experience Experience and knowledge Minimum 8 years’ experience in media relations and external communications . Demonstrated experience driving successful media campaigns delivering outcomes that shift community sentiment or deliver broad educational outcomes. Proven experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Experience working in renewable energy or a government organisation (highly desirable). Skills Exceptional writing skills with the ability to develop compelling , tailored content, including media releases, Q&As, talking points, speeches, presentations, and other content as . Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment to meet deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and a willingness to take on a range of tasks. Ability to identify , plan and execute proactive media opportunities and events to support the organisation's strategy and changes in the wider industry landscape. Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining high standards of work.
