Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra (other locations to be considered) ASIC 4 ($97,401–$115,820 depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuation Permanent role Applications close at 11:59 pm AEDT, Wednesday 17 December 2025 The team The Commercial & Employment Law Team Within ASIC's Corporate Legal Services Partners With Key Internal Stakeholders, Providing Specialised Legal Advice On a Range Of Matters Relating To commercial transactions including contracts, MoUs and Grants complex procurement intellectual property, trade marks and copyright employment and workplace relations law. The team enables ASIC to operate in compliance with relevant laws and best practice standards , supporting ASIC's mission to maintain a fair and efficient financial system. As a Lawyer, You Will Be Required To Provide independent legal advice and guidance (under supervision) on commercial contracts, procurement, intellectual property, and general commercial matters. Advise operational teams on legal issues relevant to ASIC as an employer, including review of employment policies and contracts. Advise on employment law, industrial matters, and WHS matters, and respond to related legal and other claims. Assist with internal reports and briefings concerning commercial and employment law matters. Monitor regulatory reforms, legislative changes, and trends. Work professionally, positively, and cooperatively as part of ASIC, modelling the values of Accountability, Professionalism, and Teamwork. About You To excel in this role, you'll bring: Legal qualifications and eligibility to hold or work towards an Unrestricted Legal Practicing Certificate in a State or Territory of Australia. 1–3 years post-admission experience as a lawyer, relevant to commercial and/or employment law and legislation (experience may have been gained in government, in-house, or private practice). Ability to work independently with limited supervision and be accountable for outcomes. Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive and constructive workplace environment Strong legal advice writing and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex information to different audiences. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. A client service focus and experience managing diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, financial services legislation, and related policies is desirable.
