Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is seeking a dynamic clinician to join our Emergency Department team in a 14-month parental leave position, commencing January 2026. The Contract: Fixed Term, Part-Time, 64 hours per fortnight (until March 227) About the Role: As Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you will provide expert emergency care to varied patient cohort, working collectively within the Emergency department and engaging with a broad multidisciplinary team. You will operate in a largely collaborative fashion alongside Endorsed NPs and Senior Medical Officers. About the Emergency Department: Our ED serves the Bairnsdale and East Gippsland region and sees approximately 23,000 patients per year. The Department offers trauma and emergency care and is supported by a 5-bed Short Stay Unit and a dedicated fast-track area for NP-led care. The team includes ED SMOs, HMOs, interns, VMOs, and a dedicated group of Nurse Practitioners — a rare and valued feature in regional EDs — fostering a collaborative, educational, and supportive environment. What You'll Need to Succeed: Qualifications & Registration: Current AHPRA registration and evidence of enrolment or commitment to completing a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (or equivalent) Emergency Nursing Expertise: At least 5 years' experience in emergency nursing, with demonstrated advanced clinical skills, ALS accreditation, and triage competence in keeping with undertaking an advanced practice role. Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead change, mentor colleagues and work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams. Clinical Excellence & Safe Practice: Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care, safe prescribing practices, and continuous professional development.
