The key duties of the position include The Role Air Mobility Training and Development Unit (AMTDU) assesses and certifies air cargo for carriage on Australian Defence Force (ADF) fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. AMTDU conducts this work in accordance with a range of legal and regulatory frameworks, including Defence Aviation Safety and Quality requirements. The Quality Manager (QM) develops, implements, and maintains AMTDU's QMS in accordance with ISO9001 and DASR QMS requirements. The QM additionally manages AMTDU's internal and external audits to ensure conformance and compliance to legal, regulatory, and customer requirements, and gathers/reports quality Key Performance Indicators. The QM also supports the publishing and release of AMTDU-authored air cargo orders, instructions, and publications used by the wider ADF. Tasks are primarily office and computer-based work. Tasks may include physical audits and inspections, which may occur in variety of indoor (hangars, workshop spaces) and outdoor (industrial workshops, aircraft aprons, aircraft cargo compartments, unprepared airfield, drop zones). The work environment may include Lifting 0-15kgs, Bending, Squatting, Excessive Noise. About our Team The AMTDU team is a mix of uniformed and APS staff, and is comprised of engineers and technical specialists, including aircraft loadmasters, air movements staff, air dispatchers, parachute riggers, and aircrewmen. The QM will work collaboratively with this diverse team to manage conformance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the entire range of AMTDU activities. Outside of AMTDU, the QM will liaise and coordinate audit activities from external ISO9001, Defence Aviation Safety Authority, and customer organisations. Strong organisational skills, and be able to independently manage assigned tasks and schedules to successful completion. Formal qualifications and experience in the management of ISO9001 QMS. Previous experience in aviation safety, air operations, airworthiness management, or regulatory compliance. Strong commitment to professional development, and ability to rapidly apply new knowledge to workplace activities.
