Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee a complex and high-expectation government portfolio based in Parramatta. This is a unique environment that requires a strong, assured, and technically capable leader who can engage confidently with senior client stakeholders and guide operational teams with clarity and conviction. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will work in close partnership with client stakeholders and Facility Managers to oversee asset maintenance strategies, compliance, lifecycle planning, and operational performance. This role suits someone who brings quiet confidence, collaborative strength, and steadiness under pressure, alongside deep technical credibility. Key Responsibilities - Provide strategic oversight of asset maintenance management and compliance across a diverse property portfolio - Use asset performance insights to support lifecycle planning, backlog management, and service optimisation - Offer confident technical guidance and practical support to Facility Managers and operations teams - Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance in line with contract expectations - Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure safety, service quality, and compliance - Build trusted, productive relationships with senior client representatives - Promote a safe, respectful, and accountable workplace aligned to WHSEQ requirements - Prepare clear operational reporting and performance insights - Support and mentor direct reports through clear direction, coaching, and shared accountability Education, Experience & Skills Essential: - Background in Engineering or a recognised Mechanical/Electrical Trade - Demonstrated technical strength in facilities, assets, or critical operations environments - A minimum of 12 months' experience in a Senior Facilities Manager, Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager or equivalent leadership role - Strong working knowledge of WHS, QA, environmental systems, and statutory compliance - Financial confidence across budgets, forecasting, and KPI reporting - A communication style that is assured, collaborative, and steady, particularly in high-pressure environments - Confidence engaging with senior technical and government stakeholders - Proficiency with CMMS and standard office systems Desirable: - Formal qualifications in Facilities Management, Engineering, Property, or Business - Experience within government, justice, or regulated operational environments - Additional training in asset management, risk, or project delivery Workplace Flexibility This role is primarily based in the client's Parramatta office. After the initial onboarding period, hybrid flexibility (1 day WFH) is available, subject to operational requirements.
