About the Business Unit Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand men and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain men in custody safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the men with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen prisoner pathways. About the Role The role of Offender Management Officer is to act as “change agents”, through the practice of mentoring and training custodial staff regarding offender management practices, promoting good practice through quality assurance activities and developing/improving their locations offender management processes to ensure they are in line with the Offender Management Framework. This position will require direct prisoner contact and involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination. Some of your duties will include: Support the implementation of Offender Management initiatives and processes at his/her prison location(s), including contributing to the promotion of positive culture change within the organisation. Provide mentoring to case workers regarding offender management processes including case planning; strategy implementation; motivating compliance and monitoring progress of prisoners on their caseload. Support the development and implementation strategies for quality assurance and continuous improvement in the execution of offender management initiatives. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated knowledge of the Reducing Re-offending Framework, the Offender Management Framework, and the practices of offender management/case management in custodial settings. Demonstrated ability to provide support to Case Workers in a correctional environment. Qualifications Completion of the Prison Officer Pre-service training is essential.
