The Employer: This is a family-run mixed farming aggregation of 34,000 hectares in the Goodooga/Walgett area of North-West New South Wales. The business is highly productive and progressive, setting high standards for both its livestock and cropping operations. The primary focus of the enterprise is wool production, with a flock of 8,000 Merino ewes mated to Merino rams, along with cull ewes mated to Dorsets. The operation features well-appointed sheep infrastructure, including several centrally located sheep yards with covered race and lamb marking yards. Artesian bore water is piped to all yards. There are three recently improved and functional wool sheds across the properties. On a smaller scale, the property also runs cattle and undertakes the seasonal harvesting of Rangeland goats. Major activities such as crutching, shearing, and lamb marking are contracted out, allowing the Senior Station Hand to concentrate on general stock husbandry and mustering. The operation utilises the software Mobble for livestock management. The cropping program spans 3,200 hectares, with a primary focus on winter crops, including wheat, barley, and legumes. Sowing and ground preparation are conducted in-house using modern farming equipment, while spraying and harvesting are outsourced. The property boasts excellent infrastructure, including numerous machinery sheds, grain storage silos and a well-appointed farm workshop.
