About the Role: We are seeking a locum Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home (Y-HiTH) service, based in Devonport, North West Tasmania, In this role you will be supporting young people aged 16–25. This role involves delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate mental health care within a trauma-informed, recovery-focused framework. Working closely with young people and their families or support networks, you will provide flexible, home-based interventions that promote safety, stability and meaningful recovery. You will also collaborate with a wider mental health team and external community services to ensure coordinated, person-centred care. Key Responsibilities Provide therapeutic engagement and home-based interventions to young people and their families/support networks Monitor mental state, assess risk, and review response to treatment Deliver brief interventions and psychoeducation tailored to developmental needs Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and contribute to individualised treatment planning Work collaboratively with families, schools, community agencies and multidisciplinary team members Support functional recovery through occupation-focused strategies and goal-setting Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold quality and safety standards Provide consultation and guidance to external services around assessment and management of young people with mental health concerns Benefits: Competitive locum rate of $60 plus per hour Supportive, multidisciplinary team culture Opportunities to develop specialist skills in youth mental health and home-based care Regular supervision and ongoing professional development Meaningful work directly supporting young people and their families Exposure to diverse presentations and community-based models of care Contribution to an innovative service delivering flexible, youth-friendly mental health support About You: A degree in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA registration Mental health allied health experience — ideally with young people Working With Vulnerable People registration (or ability to obtain) Strong skills in psychosocial assessment, therapeutic engagement and functional interventions Ability to monitor risk, mental state and treatment progress A commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centred practice Confidence working with families, carers and community supports Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills Ability to consult with external agencies when required About Us: MediRecruit provides a specialist healthcare recruitment and career advisory service for Allied Health professionals in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
