Spiritual and Pastoral Care are a strong focus at Catholic Healthcare, and we are seeking an experienced pastoral carer to help us transform the lives of our clients and their families through a range of both group based and individual Spiritual Support and Pastoral Care activities aligned with their preferences and the mission of Catholic Healthcare. We are looking for someone who has a flexible, strengths based approach and who can provide pastoral and spiritual support tailored to each of our individual clients in a way that is meaningful to them. Day To Day This Role Looks Like Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients through group-based activities in Home and Community Centres Providing spiritual support and pastoral care services to clients and family members that are person-centred, faith-based, inclusive, and friendly within a trauma-informed care framework and a strength-based approach Providing spiritual support and pastoral care services to employees through group and debriefing sessions, as well as one-to-one, where appropriate. Preparing spiritual celebrations to recognise special days of remembrance that are inclusive of various religious and culturally diverse backgrounds for clients in a group-based setting, where needed Preparing prayers and moments of reflection to share with clients, family members, and employees Providing one-to-one Pastoral Care to clients on a transitional basis, where needed Facilitating Pastoral Care volunteers to support clients and build connections with local communities Creating and providing pastoral care support to residents/clients and their family members when they enter palliative care or end-of-life based on their needs and preferences Supporting the teams and client family members access support services to assist with bereavement associated with the loss of a resident or client Facilitating pastoral and spiritual visits and support from ministers of various faith groups Ensuring clients receive continuity of spiritual care as they move into facilities and /or hospitals To Be Successful In This Role You’ll Need Successful completion of Cert IV or Diploma in Pastoral Care, Counselling, Chaplaincy, or similar qualifications in theology or spirituality Strong personal spirituality lived out in the context of a Christian-based community (Catholic or other Denomination) Strong knowledge and understanding and/or practice of the Catholic faith, particularly as it relates to Christian Spirituality, dignity of life, and aged care Commitment to supporting the pastoral/spiritual care needs of the sick and elderly and their family members Previous experience working within aged care or vulnerable community settings Knowledge of Trauma-informed Care and Mental Health best-practice Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents, clients, and their families Commitment to respecting the values, customs, preferences, and spiritual beliefs of residents and clients Excellent time-management and prioritization skills Registered and insured motor vehicle and a current unrestricted Australian drivers' licence What We Can Offer You Competitive hourly pay rate Km reimbursement (99c per Km) paid travel time Not-for-profit tax benefits so you pay less tax Fitness Passport discounted gym benefits Paid Parental leave Long Service leave after 5 years A values-based organisation that welcomes applicants from all faiths and backgrounds We know you have many choices of employer - choose Catholic Healthcare where you can make a positive impact and be well rewarded.
