We’re building the future of banking technology at Westpac Institutional Banking (WIB) through the highly strategic Westpac One Core/Treasury project. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-level UI and API-based platforms for our Corporate and Institutional clients. This is a cloud-native build leveraging modern technologies like React.js, TypeScript, Redux, and Node.js (REST APIs), with optional experience in Java and AWS Cloud as a bonus. We’re looking for engineers who deliver business value first and foremost—those who can code in any language to achieve outcomes. If you’re passionate about writing high-quality, performant, and secure code with strong test coverage, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, this is the role for you. You’ll work alongside Scrum Facilitators, Product Owners, Lead Engineers, and DevOps Specialists to deliver industry-leading solutions. This is a multi-year transformation program, offering the chance to shape the future of banking technology while building a strong engineering capability within WIB. What do I need? Knowledge: Strong background in UI and API development Deep technical expertise across modern development frameworks Experience: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven experience developing and implementing UIs & APIs that meet project objectives Prior experience in solution design across multiple programs Background in software development and agile methodologies Hands-on experience with complex solution designs and implementation phases Experience designing or implementing credit decisioning application integration patterns Extensive experience in application integration on complex infrastructures, ideally in financial services or banking Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role Education: Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science Banking experience highly regarded Why join us?
