The Role As an Economic Development Cadet, you’ll play a key role in shaping local economic growth. Working within the City Futures team, you’ll assist with strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and community consultation, while supporting initiatives such as business programs, talent attraction, and the night-time economy. You’ll also help develop a digital dashboard to track trends and outcomes. This cadetship combines hands-on experience with your university studies, giving you exposure to the diverse economic development functions of local government and contributing to the delivery of the Georges River Economic Development Strategy. The successful candidate will have Currently studying Economics, Commerce, Strategic or Urban Planning, Data Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field during the cadetship year. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with colleagues and the community. A collaborative mindset and commitment to values such as integrity, accountability, respect, and honesty. A proactive approach to problem-solving, using creative and lateral thinking to find solutions. Confidence working with numbers, data sets, and evidence-based insights to inform economic and strategic decisions.
