Your New Role This 12-month contract is part of the Risk and Controls Team within the Portfolio Strategy & Risk Team, the line 1 risk team supporting the Investments Domain. This role reports to the Senior Manager Business Risk and Controls. In this position you will be responsible for executing and supporting the design and delivery of an efficient and effective end-to-end risk and controls program across designated departments within the Investments Domain. This role is outcomes focused and key to providing a substantiated and informed perspective to senior management on their control environments and compliance with the Fund's risk and policy frameworks. Output, insights and metrics generated by this position equips senior management with information critical to uplift their understanding of their risk and control environment and to enable the sign-off on key internal and external attestations. Key duties include but are not limited to; Support and assist the Senior Manager Business Risk & Controls in the delivery of the risk and control plan for designated departments within the Investments Domain. Develop and advise junior members of the team in risk practices and oversee continual improvement in their technical knowledge. Provide relevant and timely risk reporting with specific data analysis and insights on their risk profile. Ensure specific risk areas are appropriately reviewed, managed, monitored, and integrated with the overall delivery of the risk framework and recorded within the GRC system. This will include incident reporting, control identification, control self-assessment program, monitoring of findings and actions, and model management. Conduct testing assigned by the control review program that assesses control design effectiveness and follow up on process and/ or control improvement recommendations. Manage the triage, escalation, and reporting of incidents and significant events. Test operational readiness and provide input or sign-off for projects and change initiatives before 'going live'. Ensure that key risk and controls have been updated in core risk systems. What You'll Need Experience guide (> 7 years post graduate experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Internal or External Audit, Business Analyst). An understanding of prudential or markets regulations with respect to risk management and investment governance experience will be drawn from either first, second or third line of defense risk management functions from within major financial institutions, custodians, superannuation funds or an insurance office (specific investment functional exposure is an added benefit). Exposure to Internal or External Audit risk and control identification and testing practices/ methodologies. Strong analytical skills, organizational and planning skills with a high attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication/ interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management. Strong engagement skills that reflect a professional, collegiate, and engaging approach to risk management. Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper. Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.
