We are looking for a driven Civil Drafter/Designer to join our Water Division based in our Sydney office to work on our career defining water infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for the design of direct engineering projects such as dams, reservoirs, pipelines, pump stations and various water and wastewater systems including treatment plants. We have a significant workload and have secured highly sought-after long-term projects. We have an extensive pipeline of work as part of our Joint Venture involvement with Sydney Water, West Region Delivery Team (WRDT). This role will primarily be based at Sydney Olympic Park, in the joint venture working as continuous collocated (CCL). Stantec provides design assistance to numerous WRDT work packages including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Pump Stations, Retic systems, Network pipelines & Reservoirs. About the role Undertake the role of Civil designer, applying technical knowledge in water & wastewater planning & design, utilising design aids such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D & Navisworks. Produce designs, reports, specifications, and drawings to ensure that appropriate solutions have been developed & engineering judgements recorded. Assist with the preparation of quantity & cost estimates for project planning, development, & construction phases. Collaborate with project teams, seeking/providing guidance from more experienced team members. Mentor, support & provide internal guidance to less experienced team members. Provide supervision to less experienced staff members. Liaise with Project Managers/Project Technical Leads to keep informed of the timing, costs & any other pertinent issues relating to assigned tasks. Maintain communication & develop ongoing contacts with clients as required. Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures Minimise & control risk by commitment to the Stantec Quality, Health & Safety programs & ensuring proactive use of our project management systems. Exercise initiative & independent judgement in adapting & applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues. Work under general supervision. Assist with the recruitment of staff. Provides input to & manages the annual performance & career development goals for any direct reports. Managing day to day technical support activities. Other duties as reasonably required. To be successful for this role you'll need: Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or TAFE qualification with significant relevant professional experience. Sound experience (8-10 years minimum) in multi-disciplinary mechanical / civil / structural design drafting Strong foundation of technical knowledge in the use of design software aids & drawing management software. Developing management skills. Skills Well-developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve queries. Highly adaptable and responsive with the ability to create unique solutions. Competent technical writing ability. Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks An understanding of Revit, Plant 3D would be of benefit. Well-developed problem-solving skills.
