The key duties of the position include The Role The Materiel Maintenance Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex materiel logistics maintenance support work within an integrated workforce and in alignment with Defence contracts. Working independently, the role will provide detailed materiel logistics maintenance support and technical professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contract management. This position will also contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. The Materiel Maintenance Manager will have considerable stakeholder engagement, liaising across APS, ADF and contracted industry partners in relation to complex issues. They will be expected to anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and enquiries to meet Defence outcomes. The Materiel Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for managing a budget and a small team. Some travel is required for this role and therefore the successful candidate must be willing to obtain and maintain a current class C driver's licence. About our Team Joint Logistics Unit - West (JLU-W) combines Australian Defence Force, Australian Public Service and Industry Partners in a unified logistics capability. The unit forms part of the Logistics Operations Branch under Joint Logistics Command. JLU-W provides regional logistics support to Defence capability throughout Western Australia. JLU-W operates across a number of sites including HMAS Stirling on Garden Island off the coast of Rockingham, Palmer Barracks in South Guildford and RAAF Base Pearce in Bullsbrook. JLU-W logistics services include: Warehousing and distribution Materiel maintenance Contingency stores management Loan pool/equipment and vehicles The Materiel Maintenance Manager supports the unit in delivering preventative and corrective maintenance to allocated materiel logistics platforms and systems, in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements. The role develops, analyses, implements and maintains materiel logistics plans, processes and procedures related to maintenance support for allocated platforms and systems.
