Description Do you have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in acute health, emergency, or complex primary care? We’re looking for Registered Nurses with this background to join our Virtual Health team and support Australians nationwide access the care they need, when they need it the most through the Healthdirect Helpline. About the Role As a Virtual Health Clinician, you will provide telephone‑based clinical assessment and health advice across a broad range of presentations, including acute and sub‑acute concerns, information‑seeking calls, mental health presentations, and both adult and paediatric callers, with assessment guiding advice, escalation, or referral as appropriate. You’ll use your acute or emergency background to: Conduct comprehensive telephone triage and clinical assessments Provide accurate health advice across all age groups and clinical presentations Determine urgency and recommend the most appropriate care pathway Refer callers to services including GPs, Urgent Care Clinics, or Virtual Emergency Departments This is a fully remote role, allowing you to work-from-home while continuing to contribute meaningfully to the National healthcare system. About You We are seeking Registered Nurses with strong acute, emergency, or complex primary care backgrounds. As this role involves assessing a broad range of acute and sub‑acute presentations remotely, applicants should have experience in clinical environments where recognising deterioration, managing risk, and escalating care are routine components of practice. To be successful, you must have: Unrestricted AHPRA registration with a minimum of 3 years’ RN experience Equivalent of 3 years Full Time of recent (within last 5 years and excluding post grad year) acute, emergency, or complex primary health clinical experience – essential Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure or unpredictable scenarios mental health and mixed adult / paediatric experience desirable Outstanding communication skills – you’ll be supporting diverse populations, including those with mental health concerns, low English proficiency, and limited health literacy Strong computer literacy and confidence with telehealth platforms and digital tools A passion for making a difference while working flexibly from home Residence within Australia Key Details Part-time or full-time (minimum 20 hours per week) Shift options : 2-10 hours Operational hours : 3pm – 9am, Monday to Saturday Initial contract : until 30 June 2026 Why Join Us?
