Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to provide high-level administrative support to the Director of Infrastructure & Environment. About the Role This role is integral to the smooth delivery of services across the Infrastructure and Environment Directorate. You will support a wide range of administrative functions, including correspondence, daily scheduling, customer enquiries, document management, reporting, and coordination of internal requests. What we offer: Full Time - (Stream A) Level 4- $77,000-$82,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) Superannuation. 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading) Monthly RDO (13 per year) Personal (Sick) Leave Remote Area Housing Assistance ($60 pw Renting / $90 pw Homeowner) Locality Allowance Please note: This is a permanent on-site position based in Cloncurry. Housing is not provided or FIFO arrangements are not available. The successful applicant must be willing to relocate or already living in Cloncurry. Key Responsibilities: Provide professional administration assistance including correspondence, typing, document preparation, and file management Schedule the Director’s appointments, meetings, and daily activities Review, coordinate and respond to operational requests and internal/external queries Screen incoming calls and direct enquiries to appropriate internal teams Support the Director by preparing briefings, reports, and related documentation Maintain high levels of confidentiality when working with sensitive information Assist with complaints, follow-ups, and operational matters Deliver high-quality administrative support to the Directorate and wider Council teams About You: You will be a professional, detail-focused individual who thrives in a busy environment and is comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders. You will have: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong time-management and organisational abilities High levels of confidentiality, discretion and professionalism Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Experience using Microsoft Office and internal systems The ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience in Local Government is highly regarded Mandatory Requirements: Queensland General Construction Induction (Safety White Card) or willingness to obtain Current Queensland Driver’s Licence Desirable Qualifications: Certificate III in Business Administration (or similar qualification) Experience in Local Government or in a high-level administrative role Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.
