About the Role Are you a hands-on IT problem solver who enjoys interacting with people rather than hiding behind a screen? We are partnering with a leading large-scale food manufacturing organisation based in the beautiful Hastings region. They are seeking a proactive IT Support Engineer to join their local team. This is a critical role ensuring that the technology driving their production and office operations runs smoothly. While this is initially a 12-month contract , there is a very high possibility of extension or conversion to permanent for the right candidate, making this a great opportunity for stability and growth. What You Will Be Doing This is not a remote call-center role. You will be the "face of IT" for the Hastings site, providing Level 1 and Level 2 support . You will be walking the floor, meeting colleagues, and solving hardware and software issues in person. Face-to-Face Support: acting as the primary point of contact for staff, troubleshooting desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues. Onboarding: Setting up hardware, imaging PCs/laptops, and configuring accounts (Active Directory/Office 365) for new starters. Incident Management: Logging and managing tickets through the internal service desk system, ensuring issues are resolved within SLAs. Manufacturing Support: Assisting with specific IT hardware found in a manufacturing environment (e.g., label printers, handheld scanners, and factory floor terminals). Asset Management: Keeping track of IT inventory and peripherals. What We Are Looking For We need someone with a "can-do" attitude who can explain technical concepts to non-technical staff. Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a Desktop Support, Service Desk, or IT Field Engineer role. Technical Stack: Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365 ecosystem, Active Directory, and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, patching). Communication: Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). You must be comfortable talking to everyone from factory floor staff to senior management. Problem Solving: The ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot hardware issues logically. Bonus: Experience working in a manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environment is highly advantageous but not essential. Why Join Us? Industry Leader: Work for a household name in the food sector with a stable pipeline of work. Team Culture: Join a supportive, collaborative IT environment where your physical presence makes a real impact on daily operations.
