Your Employer Our client Yurunga Farm Partnership is looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Dairy Cattle Farm Worker to join their team in Blighty, NSW. Family-owned and operated since 2006, the farm produces pure and quality milk and dairy products from contented cows. Your Role This is a fantastic full-time, permanent position where you will join a great group of people who look forward to welcoming you to their team. As a Senior Dairy Cattle Farm Worker, you will be supervising and supporting the harvest of high quality milk on a daily basis, you will also be undertaking a variety of animal husbandry tasks throughout the seasons. This position involve coordinating artificial insemination, pregnancy and estrous detection and birthing and rearing calves while also caring for cows at every stage of their lactation. You duties will include, but not limited to: Organise and plan day-to-day work shed routines and milk production process; Supervise milking shifts and staff involved in such shifts including their performance; Organise and implement artificial insemination, oestrous detection, pregnancy testing; Assist in calving and partake in rearing of calves; caring of calving cows; Maintain an adequate and comfortable environment for the wellbeing of livestock; Supervise animal health programs, assisting with sick or injured animals for live stock well being; Identify and treat common ailments and disease in a timely manner; Operate milk plant, record milk vat temperatures and implement controls so that colostrum and antibiotic milk do not go into the vat; Develop an understanding and knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the dairy, ensuring maximum efficiency of equipment; Cattle movement to and from the dairy and grazing areas of the farm; Monitor and weigh livestock for the effectiveness of nutrition programs; Ensure buildings and surrounds are kept neat and tidy; Safe and effective machinery operation; Feeding of animals as required in a safe and timely manner; Maintain accurate and up to date records of artificial insemination, animal health, and milk quality; Identify early warning signs related to animal health, milk quality and take action promptly in consultation with management; Any general dairy maintenance when required; Participate in training sessions and workshops and continuously improve/develop technical and practical abilities. About you The successful applicant will have at least 2 years of previous experience in the dairy industry. To be considered for the role, it’s important you can address the following criteria: - At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the recent years; Three years or more relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications - Recognised qualification consistent with the position - Ability to work under supervision and demonstrate responsibility - Knowledge of milking plant and farm equipment
