Blake Oliver Consulting is supporting a major consulting organisation with the appointment of a Data Architect to work with a large national business. This role sits within a small architecture group and is well suited to someone who enjoys shaping modern data platforms, designing clean solution patterns, and working closely with technical and business stakeholders. You will play a key part in defining data models, designing ingestion and transformation approaches, and developing end to end architectures across a contemporary AWS environment. The work is a mix of hands on design, cost and sizing estimates, documentation, and architectural governance. What you will be doing Gather and interpret business and technical requirements Design end to end data solutions across AWS using modern architecture approaches Build conceptual, logical and physical data models Lead cost estimation, solution sizing and design documentation Shape patterns for ingestion, storage, transformation and access Partner with a Melbourne based architect and wider delivery teams Support governance, standards and security alignment across the platform What we are looking for Proven background in solution architecture for enterprise scale data platforms Strong AWS capability across S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift and advanced SQL Hands on experience with Apache Iceberg and lakehouse based design Solid data modelling experience including star and snowflake patterns and data vault Experience with ETL and ELT design and orchestration frameworks Ability to design for performance, scalability and cost efficiency Familiarity with data catalogues, metadata and lineage tooling Good understanding of IAM, encryption and cloud security standards Strong communication skills and comfort working with distributed teams Why this role High visibility data work in a national critical infrastructure environment Modern tooling and patterns with influence on how solutions are shaped Strong partnership with a capable consulting architecture team Clear, stable pipeline of work over the twelve month term If you would like to discuss the role in more detail, feel free to reach out.
