We are currently seeking an Aboriginal Health Liaison to join our Quality Division. This pivotal role will improve healthcare services, maintain positive relationships with the Aboriginal community, and support the delivery of culturally sensitive care to Aboriginal patients and their families. Key Responsibilities: Community Liaison & Support: Serve as a crucial link between the Aboriginal community and KDH, assisting with patient identification and access to appropriate healthcare services. Cultural Advocacy: Ensure a culturally appropriate experience for Aboriginal patients in hospital, advocating for their needs during admission and discharge processes. Education & Training: Provide cultural sensitivity education to staff and lead initiatives that foster respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultures. Support & Engagement: Assist Aboriginal patients and families, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and respected during their healthcare journey. Key Selection Criteria: Essential: Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and society, with knowledge of local kinship networks. Proven ability to liaise with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities and services. Experience supporting Aboriginal patients and families in a healthcare setting. Advanced communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups. A current Driver’s License, Police Check, and Working with Children Check. Desirable: Tertiary qualification in Aboriginal Health, Community Development, or a related field. Experience within a hospital or healthcare environment. Knowledge of patient referral, discharge practices, and confidentiality requirements. Why Join Us?
