We are currently seeking a Full-Time - Permanent Ground Staff to join our team at Mornington Racecourse. This hands-on role offers variety each day, with responsibilities including track repair work, preparing and cleaning horse stalls for training days, and ensuring all facilities are kept clean, safe, and well-presented. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Sportsbet Sandown and Mornington Racecourses, we own 15 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG). What will my duties include? Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the racetrack surface, to ensure safe and optimal racing conditions, including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens, and maintenance instructions. Operate plant equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, front end loader, forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operations Weed garden beds, lawns, and landscaped areas when required. Maintain cleanliness across public areas, carparks, and surrounding grounds. Assist with seasonal tasks, repairs, and special projects. Undertake other reasonable duties in line with operational requirements of the venue. The role involves manual tasks and prolonged periods of physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. What we are looking for: Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management General operational and mechanical maintenance skills Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts (as applicable) Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills Willingness to perform duties in outdoor conditions year-round Successful candidate will have a can do attitude and demonstrate a strong work ethic, consistent reliability, and be adaptable to the varied demands of race day operations and grounds maintenance tasks What’s in it for you?
