Description The Role: Carey Libraries are focused on providing best practice resources and support for teaching and learning at Carey Baptist Grammar School. The Library Technician focuses on cataloguing and preparation of learning resources and supports the Teacher Librarian in the day-to-day operations of the Library. This position is key in ensuring a consistent, well-organised collection is easily accessible to all users. Working closely with the Teacher Librarian and the Kew Library team, the Library Technician role will be a 0.8FTE position for a period of 2 years. Key Duties & Responsibilities Acquisition, cataloguing and end processing of resources Oversee loans management – borrowing, returns and overdues Promotion of library resources Ensure maintenance of the Library Management System (LMS) including all necessary updates Regular stocktake as directed by the Teacher Librarian Work collaboratively with the Library Team, Specialists and Classroom Teachers to ensure appropriate resources are obtained and maintained Provide reader and information services to students and staff Source and prepare library resources to support classroom teaching, including research and selection of: Fiction non-fiction graphic novels picture fiction Support the Junior School literature and inquiry learning programs The Person: To be successful in this position, you will have: Australian-recognised library technician qualifications Previous experience using a library management system for cataloguing, including records download Experience with Spydus library management system (highly desirable) Experience in use of library management system for loans management Experience in a busy school environment A valid Employee Working With Children Check is a requirement of employment in this position.
