The Client and Opportunity: Our client, a well-established and privately-owned Australian civil & infrastructure construction contractor, is seeking multiple experienced Mechanical Project Engineers to join their site-based team up near Rockhampton. This is a large water infrastructure project that is providing critical upgrades to support the growth in the local community, and they are looking after the facilities work (Water Treatment Plant, Intake station, reservoirs etc). This is a contract role working through to March/April 2026, with potential to extend based on project demands/extensions. Key responsibilities include: Knowledge of the Drawings, Specifications and Quality, OH&S and Environmental requirements for all site related activities. Support the implementation of the project Quality, OH&S and Environmental Management Plans. Responsible for the administration of the contract and compilation of claims, variations, valuations and cost reviews. Programming of projects with the assistance of the engineer team, CM and PM. Assist with monitoring and updating the construction program on a regular basis. Collaborate with the project team, including field leadership, contractors and suppliers. Assist in daily project Quality System monitoring, ensuring compliance with project ITPs with respect to inspections. About You: Bachelor's level degree in Engineering (Mechanical). Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Project Engineer on large construction or infrastructure projects. Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications (P&ID's). Strong team player with the capacity to plan and manage your time/workload/communication to meet deadlines. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant construction principles/procedures and WH&S laws and experience driving health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) outcomes. Ability to start in December/January. Desire to take on a 3-6 month contract (potential to extend). No problem working away on a 15/6 roster and staying in cabin-style accommodation and cooking your own meals (meal allowance).
