About the role: The purpose of this role is to ensure the Life Insurance division maintains robust risk management and compliance frameworks while supporting the achievement of business objectives. You will be responsible for quality assurance, regulatory compliance, stakeholder management and fostering a positive risk culture across the division. This role requires strong collaboration with internal teams, external insurance partners and regulatory bodies to maintain the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence. The key responsibilities include: Managing the Approved Product List (APL) for Financial Advice, including conducting annual reviews and presenting recommendations to the Leadership team. Conducting Quality Advice reviews across Personal Advice files, General Advice phone calls and Administration team processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Managing third-party supplier contract reviews, including annual assessments and IT security evaluations for all agreements between Avant Life and external providers. Overseeing divisional complaints, incidents and breaches including monitoring resolution timeframes, maintaining accurate registers, and ensuring regulatory reporting requirements are met. Acting as Secretary for the Professional Standards and Compliance Committee, including preparation of board papers, minute-taking, and action tracking. Serving as primary liaison between Avant Life and third-party Insurance Product Issuers, participating in regular governance forums and compliance meetings. Developing and delivering risk and compliance training programs including monthly risk forums and updates on regulatory changes. Managing and remediating incidents and issues in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure timely closure and implementation of preventive measures. Supporting Line 2 Risk functions in implementing risk processes, management analysis and governance requirements. Maintaining compliance documentation including Life Insurance Guides, FSGs, disclaimers and other regulatory collateral. Responsible for preparation of annual Life Insurance board meeting. To be successful in this role you will have: Tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, law or risk management discipline. Minimum 3-5 years' experience in risk and compliance within financial services, preferably life insurance or wealth management. Strong understanding of ASIC regulatory requirements including RG146, FASEA standards and DDO obligations. Experience with quality assurance frameworks and monitoring programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare board-level reports and presentations. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail. Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships and competing priorities. Experience with complaints management and incident response frameworks. Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships across teams. Professional risk management qualifications (CRM, FRM) or compliance certifications highly regarded.
