The Opportunity To assist with the day-to-day operations of Council’s Infrastructure Services Department in accordance with Council Policies, the requirements of the community and industry standards. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Carry out general labouring duties, including but not limited to; pothole patching, pavement repairs, guidepost maintenance, whipper snipping and mowing Install regulatory and other signage in accordance with project documentation and relevant standards Undertake basic concrete works, including setup of formwork, for pathways, kerb & channel, gully pits, drainage structures, etc Operate and maintain small items of plant Read and interpret basic plans and instructions Undertake traffic control and implement traffic control plans as required, including lookout person duties Maintenance of public amenities Report identified weeds Operate vehicles, maintaining and servicing, as required Participate in toolbox and team meetings • Contribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relations Liaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties, including providing and obtaining information Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position, e.g. timesheets Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices, as required Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND LICENCE REQUIREMENTS Compulsory Qld General Safety Induction (white or blue card) Current class ‘C’ manual driver licence Desirable Class ‘MR’ manual driver licence Other Plant Operator Tickets Implement Traffic Management Plans (ITMP) Qualification Traffic Controller Competency ABILITIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Compulsory Demonstrated experience performing general labouring duties, including road maintenance, and concrete works, and the ability to maintain small plant. Sound level of literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment under minimal supervision Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices.
