The key duties of the position include The Role JLU-W is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Work Health and Safety Officer to support its logistics operations across the Perth metropolitan area. Able to work under limited supervision, the ideal candidate will have a well-developed understanding of relevant Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations and frameworks and be able to apply those to the workplace. The WHS Officer will be responsible for a range of duties including: Providing WHS inductions for new starters and annual and ad-hoc training Conducting scheduled and ad-hoc audits, assessments, workplace safety and hazardous chemical inspections and investigations Oversight of appointments of relevant support officers Oversight of emergency preparedness arrangements. Coordinating and attending meetings across the various sites Adherence to appropriate record keeping and governance processes including maintenance of central registers and reporting systems. The WHS Officer will be required to develop and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders including APS, ADF, Industry Partners and external contractors. About our Team JLU-W combines Australian Defence Force, Australian Public Service, and Industry Partners in a unified logistics capability. The unit forms part of the Logistics Operations Branch under Joint Logistics Command. JLU-W provides regional logistics support to Defence capability throughout Western Australia. JLU-W operates across a number of sites including HMAS Stirling on Garden Island off the coast of Rockingham, Palmer Barracks in South Guildford and RAAF Base Pearce in Bullsbrook. JLU-W logistics services include: Warehousing and distribution Materiel maintenance Contingency stores management Loan pool / equipment and vehicles Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations and frameworks and be able to apply those to the workplace. They will be confident liaising with and developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders including public servants, ADF members and contracted workers. They will be diligent with reporting requirements and be confident to manage and escalate issues as appropriate. The ideal candidate will be organised, demonstrating an ability to coordinate a number of tasks across a number of different sites according to a schedule and respond to ad-hoc requests as necessary.
