About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. About the role The Worker Screening Unit (WSU) is responsible for administering the Worker Screening Act 2020 by processing applications for Working with Children Checks and NDIS Worker Screening Checks. The role of Manager, Assessment is to lead and manage a team of Senior Review and Assessment Officers. The Manager, Assessment is accountable for ensuring consistent output of high quality and timely assessments by their teams. The position is part of the leadership team in the Operational Management area of the Worker Screening Unit. Key accountabilities include: Accountable for the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring the team produces quality outcomes. Provide advanced judgement and professional expertise to staff to assist them in the assessment of complex and sensitive cases. Utilise sound supervision principles that demonstrate expertise in case allocation and monitoring caseloads. Provide professional supervision of staff, and develop staff potential through coaching and feedback, training, motivating, and mentoring. In conjunction with Legal Services, provide leadership in the interpretation of legislation to inform key operational policy and processes. Managing People: Holds self and team accountable to public sector values and agreed performance standards; supports achievement of outcomes by anticipating and resolving issues; establishes and implement actions to increase level of people engagement; creates opportunities for recognising performance.
