The Role The employer is a large-scale, family-owned beef fattening operation located in Dingo, Queensland. The operation is well-known for its productive bullock fattening country and is a forward-thinking enterprise. It is progressive and innovative, managing a significant annual turnover of steers for the meatworks. The company emphasises maintaining high-quality infrastructure; all cattle yards are well-equipped and well-maintained, featuring coolers, laneways, and four-barbed fences. Mustering methods include the use of bikes, buggies and helicopters. The Station Hand position is a full-time, permanent role, primarily working from Monday to Friday. The primary focus is on general station hand duties, allowing for a high level of autonomy. Key responsibilities include confidently working with bullocks in the well-maintained yards, mustering, handling stock, processing steers, and managing the loading and unloading of trucks. You will also be responsible for operating and maintaining station machinery, including the Bobcat, tractor, and loader. Additional duties include infrastructure maintenance, performing fencing and yard building, general property maintenance, and weed control. Lastly, you will assist with the dryland farming operations of sorghum, mung beans, chickpeas, and wheat. The Offer The successful applicant will receive a generous remuneration package that includes accommodation, utilities (power and water), and a work vehicle for job-related purposes. The housing package features a three-bedroom, air-conditioned house with an office and a brand-new shed. The home is privately located just 15 minutes from the main homestead and includes a fully fenced yard. The property is situated approximately 30 minutes from Middlemount, which offers local primary and secondary schools, basic groceries, and medical facilities. For major shopping, residents can travel to Emerald or Rockhampton. Pets are allowed on the property, although they're not required for work purposes. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, and possess strong cattle handling skills. A passion for the agricultural industry and a minimum of two years of experience on a station are essential.
