What We’re Looking For: The Senior Technical Officer role has primary responsibility for providing technical expertise to both internal and external stakeholders for the management of water meters and backflow prevention. The Senior Technical Officer will also support the Site Surveillance Officer and broader metering team by contributing to field inspections, compliance monitoring, and technical assessments related to the Meter Renewal and Metered Standpipe Programs. About this role: This role has primary responsibility to champion the development and review of metering technical standards, processes, policies, guidelines and codes and the preparation of associated technical studies and reports. You will be required to: Provide specialist technical business support for backflow prevention and data logging including leakage detection. Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders. Provide mentorship and training to colleagues including customer service and field personnel relating to metering, hydraulic system performance and plumbing infrastructure, as required. Contribute to the capital works program by providing technical input into the development and management of the planned and reactive replacement of water meters. Provide specialist technical input for special projects and equipment/new product trials as required e.g. digital meters and leak detection. Apply applicable legislation and regulation and professional experience in resolving technical and customer issues. Support the Site Surveillance Officer and broader metering team with the Meter Renewal and Metered Standpipe Programs, including providing technical advice, assisting with field inspections, assessing meters and standpipe condition and compliance, coordinating testing and repairs, and contributing to the continuous improvement of related technical standards and procedures. Who we are looking for: We’re seeking a dedicated individual who Technical, plumbing or trade qualifications (Minimum Certificate 3 or equivalent) combined with experience in the industrial, manufacturing or utility service delivery environment. You will also need: To be qualified to install and test backflow prevention devices (Desirable). Significant experience in residential, commercial and industrial plumbing. Experience and knowledge in planning, operation and maintenance of water supply systems. Extensive experience in water metering. Significant experience in customer engagement and resolving customer complaints combined with excellent communication skills. Experience in the inspection of utility network infrastructure, investigation of network defects, and active leakage management. Broad knowledge of asset performance and condition assessment. Demonstrated ability to manage safety in an industrial environment. Possession of a valid Australian Driver’s Licence driver’s is essential.
