Wood is recruiting for a Subcontracts Lead to join our Minerals & Metals business on a major greenfield mining project. This is a 6-month maximum term contract with possibility for extension ideal for an engineer or supply chain specialist looking to progress into a leadership role, supporting a major client based in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator oversee the contractual and commercial aspects from the preparation of tenders and letting of contracts through to dealing with claims, ensuring that cash flow is managed effectively and that budgets and forecasts are maintained. With presence across the globe we are active in leading the way from front end conceptual studies through to EPCM delivery in Copper, Rare-Earths, Nickel, Gold, Lithium etc Responsibilities Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will step up and into a dedicated client contract team. You will balance technical, team, client, and project leadership across a greenfield mining project and thrive on the challenge of: Prepare and issue of requests for tender. Evaluate, negotiate and award contracts. Prepare and issue contract documents. Implementation and maintaining of project contract control systems and procedures. Verify interim monthly progress certificates from contractors. Manage and reporting of change control. Issue of all contractual notifications Ensure control of back charges. Evaluate, negotiate and bring resolution to contractor claims. Ensure that Projected contract completion costs are updated. Attend site inspection, kick-off and project progress meetings. Ensure control of site instructions. Compile and issue contract amendments. Ensure the cost Project control system is up to date. Other duties, as assigned, by Construction Manager. Upkeep of all Control Registers. Attend to any other contractual and commercial issues that may arise. Ensure compliance and communicate with H/O cost control . Qualifications A tertiary qualification in a Commercial or Quantity Surveying Field. Knowledge, skills and experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Contract Administration. Experience with NEC, FIDIC and bespoke forms of contract Experience in an EPCM environment Experience in evaluating, negotiating and awarding of contracts. Good computer literacy skills in MS Office and Excel. Working knowledge of MS Project would be advantageous but not a requirement Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. Be experienced in managing contractual progress and claims for contractors in a stringent manner. Ability to travel locally and/or internationally as and when required.
