About The Role As Technical Manager , you’ll oversee production quality, compliance, and product development. This is a hands-on role that combines technical oversight with practical problem-solving, managing composting and raw material processes, reviewing lab results, supporting Stage-Gate projects with R&D, and mentoring the on-site team. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll have a direct hand in how products perform in the market, ensuring every mix meets spec and no corners are cut on quality. Your time will be roughly split with 25% on-site evaluating materials, 25% on administration, and 50% reviewing test results and supporting product development. Your responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: Overseeing on-site production, testing, and batch release for composts, growing media, and potting mixes Ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, certifications, and environmental licence obligations Reviewing lab results, troubleshooting, and optimising processes Mentoring and upskilling the Lab Technician and other site staff Managing customer complaints and implementing corrective actions The role is based at our client’s Kilcoy site, easily accessible from Caboolture, Morayfield, Esk, Fernvale, and Toogoolawah. About You We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background in horticulture, agronomy, agriculture, or FMCG production environments, with a hands-on approach to process and quality management. You’ll bring: Tertiary qualifications in horticulture, agronomy, agriculture, or related science At least 3 years’ experience in compost, growing media, fertiliser, or FMCG production Proven ability to manage quality, compliance, and process variation across seasons Strong analytical skills, lateral thinking, and practical problem-solving Ability to collaborate across teams and avoid siloed thinking A mindset for continuous improvement and career growth What’s in It for You?
