The Position As the Country Tax Lead , you will be the strategic leader responsible for all tax matters across Roche entities in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting directly to Group Tax in our global headquarters, your mission is two-fold: to ensure flawless local tax compliance and to act as a proactive business partner driving organizational effectiveness. In this hands-on role, you will create and implement robust tax plans, collaborate with your team to achieve high performance, and safeguard our operations while identifying growth opportunities. What you will be working on This is a dynamic Individual-Contributor role where you bridge global strategy with local execution. Your primary focus areas will include: Local Compliance & Control Managing all Local Tax Operations including returns, payments, and effective control procedures across the entire tax process. Providing instructions for accurate tax accounting and payments, ensuring financial integrity. Representing Roche during interactions with local Tax Authorities and managing all Tax Audits with confidence and expertise. Business Partnership Engaging strategically with stakeholders across our Pharmaceutical and Diagnostics divisions to provide expert tax advice and support. Working closely with local Finance colleagues, the accounting shared services center, and other tax professionals to identify opportunities and mitigate potential areas of risk. Implementing Global Policy Locally Taking the lead in implementing critical Global Tax Policies, adapting them effectively to the local legislative environment. Managing Transfer Pricing across the region, ensuring strict adherence to the Group Tax Policy standards. Who you are You are a proactive, detail-oriented leader who excels at communication and collaboration. You are ready to take full ownership of the tax function for a crucial region. You bring: A minimum of 5 years' or equivalent experience in a multinational company (in a tax or highly tax-exposed finance function) or extensive experience from a reputable accounting/tax advisory firm. A professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Tax. A strong understanding of local taxes, particularly corporate taxes and VAT, in the Australian/New Zealand context. Solid accounting knowledge and familiarity with core business IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, SAP, Google). Fluent English (spoken and written) and the ability to build strong internal and external networks. A process-oriented and problem-solving mindset, combined with meticulous attention to detail. Proven strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and prioritize tasks for yourself and other team members. The ability to work independently while effectively communicating the benefits of tax initiatives to diverse stakeholders. Advantageous: Knowledge and experience within the healthcare industry (Pharma or Diagnostics). This role is only open to candidates that have full eligibility to live and work in Australia that will require regular visits to our offices in Barangaroo and North Ryde.
