The Operations Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. This position ensures the manufacturing department works together cohesively and is responsible for the equipment to aid in the manufacturing process as well as lead and directs the work of manufacturing shop employees. Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating the activity of the Manufacturing Department and communicates with Sales and Engineering regarding Drawings and Customer Requirements. Foster and ensure a Safety Culture in manufacturing operations Foster and ensure a ‘deliver on time’ culture within manufacturing operations Foster and ensure a ‘doing things right’ culture in the manufacturing operations Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space. Understand the manufacturing processes required for different products manufactured. Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance personnel to proactively prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures. Ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times. Supervise and coordinate the work of the production team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback Develop strategic plans for optimized productivity. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, systems, and teams (LEAN). Oversee all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, and adherence to production targets. Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies. Support all current and new product introductions. Manage procurement and ordering of workshop tools, supplies and consumables Determine and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing process. Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed, and testing procedures are in place, before starting up vendors/subcontractors. Provide support to the General Manager on operational matters. (e.g. forecast and CAPEX planning, personnel, tool and resource planning). Work with Workshop supervisor and service dept to support their functions. Manage workshop team supervision, time sheet approval and job assignments. The goal would be to ensure optimum production and utilization of personnel, machines and equipment. Collaborate with the engineering team, ensuring that all necessary parts and material have been ordered for manufacturing work orders Manage stock control and inventory planning of product company manufacturing stock Supporting production schedule and labor utilization at MEL facility for major projects, including quality coordination in partnership with International QC Manager. Plan and present toolbox talks, briefings, focus meetings, job assignments and department meetings as required or directed. Oversee interview process, recruitment, induction, onboarding and training management of new workshop staff. Establish Manufacturing KPI’s such as OTD and Scrap and Rework Targets with the General Manager. Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and will oversee all employees related to the manufacturing team. High school diploma or equivalent, Two-year technical college equivalent and/or current certifications is preferred. Minimum five years’ experience in manufacturing operations in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment with a minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisorial role. Understanding of & familiarity with heat exchangers, pressure vessels, rotating equipment manufacturing for IG and/or clean energy industry preferred. Ability to understand, communicate, and allocate training in all phases of operations. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, MRP/ERP Software. Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings. Results-oriented mindset, focused on achieving goals and contributing to the continuous improvement of products. The ability to read, understand, and apply, and maintain ISO compliance. Quick learner and able to maintain excellent personal relationships with customers Excellent communication skills, and Team building skills. Work Environment The employee must be able to sit, stand, or work at the computer for prolonged periods. The position supports operations in the manufacturing facility, which requires being on the shop floor for extended periods of time. Safety equipment must be utilized as specified to enter production areas. May be subject to hot and cold environments, loud noise, and typical manufacturing exposures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. This role may require domestic and global travel to a Customer’s office or site, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply. A valid driver’s license is necessary, in addition to a valid Passport in case of international travel. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and work with various materials and/or tools, as well as work and bend at different heights, in various temperatures, and to be on feet for an extended period of time.
