Leading Hand / Working 2IC Broadacre & Pivot Irrigated Cropping, Croppa Creek NSW A family owned and operated centre-pivot irrigated and dryland cropping enterprise with land holdings near Croppa Creek & North Star, NSW is seeking a keen and passionate Senior Farmhand with long-term career plans in the grain & cotton sector to join them in a Leading Hand role to assist the Farm Manager with day to day operations. Producing corn, cotton, linseed, pulses, oil seeds and cereals, you will have prior operational experience across typical broadacre farming activities. Mechanical ability will be looked upon favourably, as will a clear passion to improve, develop your skills and desire to take on more responsibilty within the company. A positive mentality towards your work and colleagues, honesty and attention to detail are a must. Your role will be to assist the Farm Manager and work alongside and lead by example the other staff to carry out the day-to-day farming operations, with training provided where necessary to competently operate and maintain all the farm machinery. Duties include: Assist the Farm Manager with planning, scheduling and executing all cropping operations in a timely and safe manner Operation of all modern broadacre and row cropping farm machinery eg. Late model John Deere 8R/8RT/9R tractors, JD SP boom sprayers, JD headers, pumps and centre pivot irrigation systems etc. Oversee seasonal staff and contractors, providing guidance and training where required Perform machinery calibration, pre-start checks, and mechanical repairs Operation of earth moving machinery: dozer, grader, excavator Semi and/or roadtrain truck driving (HC or MC licence desirable) Workshop maintenance and welding Application of precision Ag practices Monitor crop health, soil conditions, and irrigation Implement safety procedures and uphold high farm standards Record and report operational data as required Step into the acting manager role when the Farm Manager is away Requirements: Proven experience of dryland and irrigated cropping ChemCert & broadacre spraying experience HC or MC licence is desirable. Assistance will be provided to obtain or upgrade your license Understanding of modern farming systems, GPS and Precision Ag Tech, and digital record keeping Leadership skills and ability to supervise others Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture (advantageous) Current open car licence & own vehicle Some mechanical ability and the drive and passion to learn and improve We are looking for a level individual who is building a solid career & working towards developing their skills across all areas of broadacre farm operations and management.
