About the role The Senior Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the finance team in delivering accurate forecasts, insightful analysis, month-end reporting, and strategic reporting for the AGL Consumer gross margin portfolio. The position plays a critical role in partnering with key stakeholders to provide actionable insights that inform business decisions. A major focus will be driving continuous improvement in processes and financial models to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of Consumer gross margin analysis, forecasting, and reporting. What you'll be doing Support month-end reporting activities, including close-out for Consumer gross margin, preparation of commentary, and investigation of variances in collaboration with Product and Commercial teams. Deliver high-quality quantitative and qualitative analysis of Consumer gross margin across all market segments, comparing actuals to budget, forecast, and prior year. Provide clear, insightful commentary on variance drivers, supported by accurate metrics and analysis, to enable informed decision-making. Prepare key reporting deliverables, including group performance reports, business performance reports, monthly portfolio reviews, and external reporting for half-year and full-year results. Develop understanding of key non-financial metrics (e.g., customer numbers, product mix, volume) to enhance variance analysis and commentary. Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines and ensure compliance with group standards. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of management reporting activities. Proactively highlight trends, risks, and opportunities based on performance analysis to support strategic decision-making. Support the delivery of budgets and forecasts for Consumer gross margin, providing detailed analysis of revenue and cost drivers, including rate, volume, product and customer mix, wholesale cost, distribution costs, and other inputs across all market segments. Analyse and validate key drivers of Consumer gross margin, ensuring assumptions are substantiated and documented. Provide modelling and analytical support to stakeholders and contribute to commentary and forecasting packs in line with group timetables. Identify and implement improvements to processes and models to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of Consumer margin budgets and forecasts. Contribute to strategic modelling initiatives that inform long-term Consumer forecasts and portfolio strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Provide specialist financial insights and analysis to support key business and finance stakeholders in achieving strategic objectives. Act as a trusted advisor, building strong relationships with stakeholders by understanding their priorities, adding value, and maintaining credibility and respect. Collaborate across functions to ensure alignment of financial outcomes with business goals, proactively identifying opportunities and risks. Undertake ad-hoc tasks and special projects as directed by management and portfolio needs, delivering high-quality outputs within agreed timelines. Proactively identify risks and opportunities within forecasts and communicate insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making. What you’ll bring CA/CPA/ACA/MBA qualified Min 5 years’ experience in analytical roles Strong stakeholder management skills Ability to understand, utilise and improve sophisticated accounting and reporting systems.
