In this role you will perform as a team member in the pathology laboratory at Atherton, ensuring that all laboratory practices are aligned with those of Pathology Queensland and that the laboratory provides an effective and efficient pathology service to the Cairns and Hinterland Health Service District and associated facilities. What you'll do Deliver high level scientific knowledge, skills and professional services. With demonstrated experience, apply independent scientific judgement to more complex problems and decision making, under the scientific supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff. Apply broad scientific knowledge, skills and experience in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate. Undertake diagnostic testing and related duties across multiple disciplines following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards. Exercises independent professional knowledge in problem solving and apply scientific judgement with infrequent need for supervision. Provide input into the development of scientific practices, procedures and protocols within the pathology work areas. About you We are searching for someone who has: Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a multidiscipline laboratory. Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline. Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner. Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvements activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification. Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent scientific supervision. A tertiary degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution or be completing the required degree with graduation expected within three months of the application closing date.
