Job Description Position Title: GCP Platform Engineer Employment Type: Labour hire (Approx. 6 months, with potential to extend) Location: Melbourne or Bendigo Hourly Pay Rate: $800 – $900 per day (incl. 12% super) ABOUT THE ROLE The GCP Platform Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing key components of the organisation’s cloud-based data platform. This role is suited to an engineer with hands-on experience across GCP, automation, and data pipeline engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to scalable platform design, improved data workflows, and seamless integration across systems and tools. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design, build, and maintain infrastructure components supporting the GCP data platform Develop, enhance, and optimise data pipeline frameworks, accelerators, and supporting tools Integrate the GCP data platform with internal systems and third-party tools Work closely with data engineers, architects, and operations teams to ensure cohesive and high-performing platform capabilities Implement infrastructure-as-code through Terraform to automate deployments and environment management Assist with troubleshooting, performance optimisation, and platform stability Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Required: 4–6 years engineering experience, including minimum 2 years hands-on GCP experience Strong capability across key GCP services: BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run Experience with Dbt for data transformations and modelling Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and pipeline development Practical experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code Background as a data platform engineer working with modern cloud environments Desirable: Experience with Qlik CDC or other change data capture tools Knowledge of Argo Workflows for orchestration Experience with Control-M workload automation Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts Exposure to Collibra (data governance) Exposure to Experian data quality or enrichment tools ELIGIBILITY Full Australian working rights required Immediate or near-immediate availability preferred Apply now or contact SOS Recruitment on 02 6260 8888 for a confidential discussion.
