About the Opportunity: As a Float Senior Associate or Special Counsel in Melbourne, you’ll manage a volume of TAC and WorkCover files, ensuring tasks across your litigated file load is met. You’ll take ownership of files during your colleagues’ leave, ensuring our clients are looked after by delivering maximum compensation for them. We’re looking for an autonomous, tech-savvy senior lawyer with strong expertise litigating TAC and WorkCover files, who can get up to speed quickly, managing client relationships effectively and high-quality legal work. And you’ll have experienced paralegal and administration assistant support to assist you in this delivery! This role offers a high degree of flexibility. We welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time hours, flexible work patterns, and work from home arrangements, with the option to work across any of our Melbourne offices, whilst completing irregular travel to some of our Victorian offices, on an ad hoc basis, to meet our client requirements. Managing a high-volume caseload, including TAC and WorkCover matters, and progress files efficiently. Conducting litigation tasks, including originating motions and submitting WRITs. Taking ownership of files during your colleagues’ leave, building trust with our clients quickly and managing their expectations. Working across a variety of sensitive client matters, maintaining professionalism and discretion. Drafting legal documentation with precision and attention to detail. Utilising our practice management software, MatterSphere, and other legal systems effectively to manage a volume practice, with strong commercial and fiscal awareness. Working independently while reporting to leadership and collaborating with paralegal support. What you’ll bring. To thrive in this role, you’ll have: A Bachelor of Laws and a current practising certificate, with 3 years’ PAE. Pre or post-admission experience litigating WorkCover and TAC files, with proven ability in managing a high-volume caseload and progressing files efficiently. The confidence and maturity to work independently, managing sensitive client matters. Excellent legal drafting and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret legislation and legal documentation. Proficiency in practice management systems, with a tech-savvy approach to managing e-files. A collaborative mindset and commitment to working as part of a cohesive team to deliver outstanding client outcomes.
