Your Role at St John of God Bendigo Hospital You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical speech pathology services to clients/patients using evidence based clinical practice skills. Our areas of specialty include inpatient acute medical and rehabilitation wards, covering surgical and ICU patients. We also provide outpatient rehabilitation services with a strong focus on progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and post-stroke recovery. Shifts are available Monday to Friday to cover both planned and unplanned staffing leave. The successful candidate must be confident and able to work independently as the sole Speech Pathologist on shift. The Position Assessment of patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders Development of individual treatment and therapy programs (with long and short term goals) Completes clinical documentation and undertakes administrative tasks as required. This may include communication of assessment results and therapy outcomes to the referring party and other parties involved in the patient’s management. Actively prioritises own caseload including participating in relevant clinical review meetings and case conferences as appropriate. Supports and liaises with patients, carers, colleagues, medical, nursing, allied health, support staff, external agencies and the private sector to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care Educate patients/carers in assessment, treatment and post discharge management and organise discharge summaries/referrals to other services, as appropriate. You will have tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current full membership to Speech Pathology Australia and demonstrate knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and evaluation within Speech Pathology practice.
