Job Description Summary Reporting to the APAC Engineering Leader – Emerging Markets, you will provide leadership and oversight across all aspects of electrical engineering projects in Australia. You will be accountable for defining strategies, managing resources, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory standards, and representing GE Power Conversion at the highest levels with customers, suppliers, and industry partners. This position requires a combination of deep technical understanding, strong programme management capability, and exceptional leadership skills to guide teams, influence design, and deliver outstanding customer value. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Strategic and Programme Leadership Define and implement the overall strategy for project engineering execution, aligning with customer expectations and GE business objectives. Provide programme-level oversight and governance for all activities across multiple projects. Represent GE Power Conversion (PC) as the senior Engineering authority to end-customers, prime contractors, and key stakeholders. Contribute to bid and proposal development, defining Engineering work packages, resource requirements, and cost estimates. Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and through-life support considerations. Present complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders and customer representatives. System Design & Integration Lead the design, development, and integration of complex electrical systems, including power conversion, rail traction power, grid stability, power generation, distribution, and propulsion drives. Ensure optimal system architecture that meets customer performance, reliability, and safety requirements across all operational conditions. Oversee system-level analyses - including electrical load flow, fault studies, dynamic performance, and efficiency modelling. Collaborate with mechanical, control, and software engineers to ensure full system compatibility and interface management. Support detailed design reviews, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AS, IEC, EN). Technical Leadership Act as the technical authority for the engineering design on projects within Australia. Define and maintain system design baselines, ensuring consistency across all engineering disciplines. Provide expert guidance on electrical design decisions, system configuration, and technology selection. Review and approve technical deliverables, ensuring adherence to GE Vernova quality, safety, and engineering standards. Project Execution & Delivery Manage the engineering scope, schedule, and risk for projects in Australia. Coordinate technical input across GE PC teams across different regions, and supplier teams around the region, to achieve seamless integration and verification of system functionality. Support the development and validation of factory/site acceptance tests and commissioning activities. Provide in-service engineering support, investigating and resolving system-level performance or reliability issues. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Drive the adoption of new technologies and digital solutions. Promote lessons learned and best practice sharing across projects. Contribute to the development of future technical solutions. Team Leadership & Mentorship Lead and mentor a team of electrical and systems engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration. Encourage innovation, cross-disciplinary problem solving, and adherence to engineering excellence standards. Support professional development initiatives, including training, chartership, and knowledge sharing. Qualifications and Requirements Must hold a degree (or higher) in electrical engineering . At least 15 years experience leading electrical engineering projects and/or teams. Demonstrated success managing engineering deliveries across the full system lifecycle. Deep understanding of Australian and international standards. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large, complex projects. Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including experience supporting bids and proposals. Willingness to travel locally and occasionally overseas. Desired Characteristics Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to balance technical, commercial, and operational priorities. Track record of driving process improvement and fostering high-performance teams.
